These reusable forms are CNC cut from 20mm High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) for great accuracy & alignment.
Epoxy resin is unable to adhere to polyethylene so with this form you will never need to tape your forms or use a release spray!
Each form comes pre-assembled & sealed ready to pour the moment you get it! The 2 long sides are designed to remain "permanently" sealed with RTV silicone gasket maker, although they can be removed if you ever need to but aren't necessary for normal function. The form comes with integrated T-slots for attaching your clamping bars to the side walls. This allows you to use the included HDPE clamps and hardware, with the help of tape & timber spacers or HDPE clamp blocks, to secure your wood in place before making your pour to ensure they don’t move or float during the curing process. The blocks being made from HDPE ensures that your resin does not stick to them in case of over-pouring.
To remove your blank from the form loosen the 3 bolts from the end of choice. Next, take a wide blade chisel or putty knife and place flat side down against the HDPE base then lightly tap the chisel with a hammer. The blank will then pop lose from the form and you will be able to pull it from the form very easily. If needed the other end can be removed the same way for extra encouragement.
To reset the form clean old RTV silicone from the area's removed. Apply a new bead of RTV silicone to the form, reattach the end cap to the form by tightening the 3 bolts until you get a small amount of squeeze out. Clean the squeeze out and then let sit over night (or 12 hours) for the RTV to set and you are ready for another pour!
These bolts are paired with stainless steel threaded inserts to ensure the long life of your form. This means the removing and reinserting of the bolt will not wallow out the plastic from repeated use, like regular screws would do.
Each Form Includes:
These forms are designed to make setting up and resetting for your next pour as quick as possible so you spend less time building forms & more time pouring! Our forms are designed to produce blanks, not finished products that are ready to sell.
Due to the shiney/slick surface of HDPE, there will be minor manufacturing “scuff” marks on the surface of the form. These marks will transfer to your resin but will be planed and/or sanded away very easily. These scuffs will NOT affect your final piece and are not considered faults.
