CA Glues

CA glue, cyanoacrylate, also known as super glue, is used in woodworking for fast repairs, filling hairline cracks and voids in timber (especially on turnings and small carvings), bonding small parts where clamps are impractical, and stabilising punky or cracked wood before turning or carving. When used with an activator spray, CA glue sets in seconds, making it one of the fastest adhesives available for small-scale repairs and assembly work.

Thin CA glue has very low viscosity and wicks into tight joints by capillary action, it is ideal for hairline cracks, end grain penetration, and joints that are already fitted but need to be locked in place. Medium CA glue is the general-purpose formula, filling small gaps while still flowing enough to penetrate into the joint. A CA glue accelerator (also called kicker or activator) is a spray that speeds up CA glue curing from minutes to seconds. Apply the accelerator to one surface and the CA glue to the other, then bring the surfaces together, or apply the accelerator after the CA glue is in place, which works well for void filling in timber. CA glue generates a small amount of heat when accelerated, this is normal and not a cause for concern with standard applications.
