The Ultimate All-Rounder

The Jack Plane is widely regarded as the most versatile hand plane in woodworking. Its longer sole makes it ideal for flattening boards and edge jointing, while the low angle bevel-up design allows it to tackle end grain and delicate finishing work with ease.

Build yourself a shooting board and you'll discover just how capable this plane is when trimming end grain cleanly and accurately.

Simple and Reliable Design

The Low Angle Jack Plane is designed to be uncomplicated and enjoyable to use. The minimalistic construction makes disassembly and maintenance straightforward, while the adjustment knobs are smooth and easy to operate.

Blade depth is adjusted with a simple twist of the knurled wheel, while the lateral adjustment allows the blade to be skewed left or right for precise setup.

Low Angle Bevel-Up Design

The blade sits bevel-up on a precision machined 12° bed, creating a low angle of attack that slices cleanly through timber and end grain. Unlike traditional bench planes, you can alter the effective cutting angle simply by changing blades, allowing the plane to adapt to different timbers and grain directions.

The blade is clamped firmly against the plane casting, providing maximum support to the cutting edge and helping produce a smooth, chatter-free finish.

Three Blade Angles Available

The MTC Low Angle Jack Plane is supplied with a 25° blade as standard. Combined with the 12° bed angle, this produces an effective cutting angle of 37°, perfect for end grain and general woodworking.

  • 25° Blade – Effective 37° cutting angle, ideal for end grain and general work
  • 38° Blade – Effective 50° cutting angle, perfect for smoothing and everyday woodworking
  • 50° Blade – Effective 62° cutting angle, ideal for figured and difficult timbers where tear out is a concern

Additional blades are available separately, allowing you to tailor the plane to the timber and task at hand.

M2 High Speed Steel Blade

MTC has chosen M2 High Speed Steel (HSS) for its excellent abrasion resistance and long-lasting edge retention. The thicker blade construction also helps minimise vibration during the cut, producing smoother finishes and greater control.

While M2 HSS may take slightly longer to sharpen than some steels, you'll spend far less time sharpening thanks to its impressive edge life.

Adjustable Mouth

The fully adjustable mouth allows you to optimise the plane for the work at hand. Close it down for figured timbers to minimise tear out or open it wider for heavier cuts and faster stock removal on straight-grained material.

Shipping Protection/Insurance - Covering Loss/Damage In Transit

  • All freight companies used by Hammer Roo are general carriers and do not cover damage or loss of goods in transit. To give you peace of mind, we offer optional shipping insurance at checkout. This covers your order against loss or damage during transit and is calculated at 2.5% of the order value (starting at $0.75) for domestic orders, or 5% for international orders.
  • Insurance is not automatically included. To protect your order, you must add shipping protection at checkout by selecting the shipping protection option.
  • If you choose not to add insurance, you do so entirely at your own risk. Hammer Roo accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur once your order leaves our premises. We are unable to assist with claims or compensation for uninsured shipments.
  • We HIGHLY recommend selecting insurance to safeguard your goods in transit.

What Insurance Covers:

  • Damage during transit from dispatch to delivery
  • Loss during transit from dispatch to delivery

What Insurance Does Not Cover:

  • Theft after successful delivery by the carrier
  • Deliveries marked as Authority to Leave

Authority To Leave

  • If you want to have your order left at your address even if you are not home you can request Authority To Leave in the order notes during check out. If you request this option;
    • You are accepting responsibility for delivery of the item once it leaves the warehouse.
    • We assume a delivery has been made if the courier reports that the item has been delivered.
    • Non-delivery/Theft claims by customers will not be accepted if the carrier confirms delivery has been made even if optional insurance is purchased.

Tailgate Drop Fees

  • Any single product carton that weighs over 30kg must be shipped on a skid or pallet.
  • If product is longer than 2.2m you must have means to unload at the destination via forklift, suitable manpower or pickup from the closest depot.
  • If a product is over 30kg you can:
    • Pick it up from the closest courier depot. Please advise us that you would like to choose this option, and when it arrives at the courier's depot they will be in touch to advise you it is ready for pick up. They will also set out any terms and conditions for the pick-up. It will be loaded via forklift so having an appropriate vehicle or trailer to allow this to happen is your requirement.
    • Pay a tailgate drop fee. This will mean that the truck arriving to deliver the goods will have a hydraulic tailgate that will safely set the skid on the ground with a manual pallet truck to move the skid to a reasonable position on the property so that it is deemed to be safely delivered. Tailgate drop fees vary based on carrier (usually $65-$90), please contact us for an accurate quote.
  • If your consignment fits the above criteria we will contact you prior to dispatch to confirm your preferred method and collect the tailgate drop fee if you choose that option for your delivery.

Manual Handling Surcharge (Overlength/Oversized Items)

  • Any item once packaged that measures over 1.2m, weighs over 30kg or cannot pass through automatic freight sortation machines and must be handled manually by freight companies.
  • For items 1.2 - 1.8m long there is a surcharge of $16.50 and for items 1.8m and longer there is a surcharge of $83.50 charged by the freight company to manually handle this freight.
  • Hammer Roo passes this charge on at cost. If you choose the In Store Pickup option there is no extra charge on your order for handling these items.

Return To Sender

  • If an unsuccessful attempt is made to deliver a parcel or parcel is uncollected within the carriers specified time-frame & the carrier returns the parcel to sender the customer will be responsible for re-delivery & return to sender charges.
  • These charges vary depending on carrier & location. Should the customer not make contact regarding the parcel after 3 months from returned date, the parcel will be classed as abandoned & discarded.
